Takesure Benhura was born on 4 June 1958 in Murewa. He is married with six children. He started sculpting in 1997 at Dominic studio in Harare where he worked alongside Dominic Benhura, Stanford Derere, Eddie Masaya, and many others. His specialty is the musical instruments he sculpts complete with band instruments that can be strung, beaten, or rattled creating a full musical effect. The texture is a huge part of the sculptures Takesure makes, often leaving chunks of the natural shape and texture of the stone untouched to complete the story behind the stonework. In 2018 Takesure's drums were featured on Zimbabwe’s National Television program 'Living Legends Show”. The drums are said to produce a better-quality sound than the traditional wooden drum.
